We’re pleased to announce that The Bail Project has come to Cincinnati and Hamilton County!
It’s Mission Statement is simple: The Bail Project Inc. is a non-profit organization designed to combat mass incarceration by disrupting the money bail system — one person at a time.
This is an unprecedented nationwide effort to combat mass incarceration at the front end of the system. The Bail Project pays bail for people in need, reuniting families and restoring the presumption of innocence. They assist people pre-trial with various services, such as transportation and housing, so that they will be able to return to court timely to resolve their cases. Once each person’s case is resolved, the money posted goes back into the Bail Project’s fund. Because bail is returned at the end of a case, donations to The Bail Project National Revolving Fund can be recycled and reused to pay bail two to three times per year, maximizing the impact of every dollar they have.
Nationally, tens of thousand of low income Americans are assisted while The Bail Project collects stories and data to prove that money bail is not necessary to ensure people return to court.
