Shelby graduated from Marshall University in 2020 with a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and received her J.D. from Northern Kentucky University Salmon P. Chase College of Law in May of 2023. While in law school, Shelby was a law clerk for the Children’s Law Center in Covington, KY, where she assisted youth clients in sealing their records and fought to end Ohio’s laws regarding youths being bound over into adult court. She also interned at the Hamilton County Public Defender Office, both in the Youth Defense and Municipal Divisions. Shelby received the NKU Chase College of Law Class of 2023 Salmon P. Chase award, an award given to a graduating student who best exemplifies the public service ideals and values of Salmon P. Chase in his extensive work advocating for the rights of African Americans. Shelby joined the Municipal Division at the Hamilton County Public Defender Office in August of 2023.
