It is my duty as a Guardian ad Litem to represent a child’s best interest in court; be an advocate for the child; complete my own assessment of the allegations reported to the court by speaking with the child directly, as well as other family members; ensure the safety of a child; have contact with a child’s service providers and school to gather information.
I worked for 3 years in a children’s residential facility in Louisville, KY. I started as a second shift direct staff until switching to working in the third and fourth grade classroom in the elementary school. I then began working as a case manager for families involved with Children’s Services in Indiana and did this for 1 year before obtaining a full-time position with Children’s Services in Hamilton County. I was an Ongoing caseworker for 2 years where I helped families reunite and helped children find permanency. Upon deciding to go to school to earn my Master’s degree, I transitioned into the Facilitator role at Hamilton County JFS where I conducted the family conferences for the caseworkers and families. I did this for a year and a half before applying for the GAL position where I started working in March 2020.
I attended Eastern Kentucky University in Richmond, KY where I obtained my Bachelor’s degree in Juvenile Corrections.
