Ms. Gieske attended Salmon P. Chase College of Law on a full scholarship and graduated with honors in 2005. While pursuing her law degree, Ms. Gieske acted as an assistant editor and contributor for the Northern Kentucky Law Review. She also worked two years as a research assistant for her Constitutional Law professor, spent one summer as a legal intern at Cinergy Services (now Duke Energy), and spent one summer as a Judicial Extern for the Honorable William O. Bertlesman of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Kentucky. Upon graduation, Ms. Gieske served as a Staff Attorney at the Twelfth District Court of Appeals for the State of Ohio for six years. She then ventured into solo practice, where she handled cases before the First, Second, Fourth, and Twelfth District Courts of Appeals. Ms. Gieske’s appellate experience includes private civil and criminal appeals, appointed permanent custody appeals, and appointed criminal appeals in cases ranging from simple misdemeanors to complex murders. She has represented the Hamilton County Public Defender’s Office in the Supreme Court of Ohio, where she won her very first appeal in a case involving leaving the scene of an accident. Ms. Gieske joined the Public Defender’s Office in 2018.
