Ms. Helfrich is a 1997 graduate of the University of Cincinnati College of Law. She was admitted to practice in Ohio in November of that same year. In April 1998, Ms. Helfrich began her career in the Guardian ad Litem Division of the Hamilton County Public Defender’s Office. She became the Assistant Director of the Guardian ad Litem Division in 2001 and Director in 2005. Ms. Helfrich is qualified under Rule 48 of the Rules of Superintendence for the Courts of Ohio to serve as a guardian ad litem. In addition to being trained to serve as a guardian ad litem, Ms. Helfrich has completed training through the Ohio Department of education which allows her to serve as a parent surrogate for the youth on her caseload who require special education services. Child advocacy is a passion for Ms. Helfrich. She has served on numerous committees on the state and local level to improve the outcomes for youth in foster care. Ms. Helfrich is a faculty member of the Guardian ad Litem Education Program of the Ohio Supreme Court Judicial College and an adjunct faculty member at the University of Cincinnati College of Law.
