Ben has focused his career on social justice from the very beginning. Prior to law school, Ben spent two years with the Peace Corps in Bolivia doing water projects, two years in Honduras managing health care delivery, and five years in rural California working with and advocating for immigrant farmworkers. Exposure to the problematic U.S. immigration system sparked an interest in attending law school. During law school Ben focused on classes in criminal law and critical race theory. He interned at the Ohio Justice and Policy Center and served as a law clerk for two years at the Cincinnati criminal defense firm Pinales Stachler Young Burrell. Ben also spent six weeks as a law clerk for the Santa Fe Dreamers Project working on border issues in New Mexico and El Paso, Texas. A native Cincinnati west-sider, Ben is happy to be back in his hometown defending indigent clients.
