Benjamin D. Migdal earned his J.D. (cum laude, 2016) and his B.A. (magna cum laude, 2012) from the University of Akron. During law school, Attorney Migdal served as Vice-President and President of the Jewish Law Student’s Association (JLSA) and participated in Moot Court Honor Society oral argument competition. In 2014 his team placed fourth in the Akron Law Client Counseling Competition. While involved with JLSA, he helped grow the organization by planning student events such as speaker panels and volunteer opportunities to help ensure it remained active for future generations of law students well after he graduated. In Spring, 2015 he was presented with the CALI award for the highest class grade in UCC Sales. He was also active in public interest work, contributing approximately 100 hours of pro bono service to those of limited means and well above the 30 hours required for graduation. Mr. Migdal previously interned for the Summit County, Ohio Public Defender’s Office in Akron, and represented clients in court as a certified law student. While at the Summit County Public Defender, Mr. Migdal oversaw the law student intern staff during the Fugitive Safe Surrender event in which his office helped countless individuals resolve outstanding criminal warrants. Before coming to the Law Office of the Hamilton County Public Defender, Mr. Migdal worked for the North Dakota Public Defender’s Office in Minot where he represented his clients on misdemeanor, felony, probation violation, and juvenile custody matters. Mr. Migdal also argued an appeal on an order denying a motion to withdraw a guilty plea before the North Dakota Supreme Court.
