Ms. Smith is a 2021 graduate of Chicago-Kent College of Law. Before attending law school, Ms. Smith obtained her A.M. in Social Work from the University of Chicago School of Social Service Administration and worked as a psychiatric social worker in Chicago. Her experiences serving patients within an inequitable health care system led Ms. Smith to pursue a legal career. While a law student, Ms. Smith become involved in guardianship work at the Cook County Office of the Public Guardian, at the Center for Disability and Elder Law Pro Se Guardianship Help Desk, and through Chicago Volunteer Legal Services. Ms. Smith also holds a A.M. and A.B.D. in English at the University of Chicago and a post-graduate certificate in psychoanalytic psychotherapy from the Chicago Psychoanalytic Institute.
