Every summer the Hamilton County Public Defender Office offers a summer internship primarily directed to law students who have completed their second year in law school. The Summer Intern Program, which this year runs from May 28th through August 2nd, begins with an in-house training program and then rotates the interns through a series of assignments all of which are supervised and many of which allow the students to advocate on behalf of clients before judges and magistrates. Students also attend a weekly training meeting focused on exclusively trial advocacy. The Training Director supervises our Summer Law Intern Program with the assistance of all department heads and individual trial attorneys in whose units the students work – Appellate, Felony, Youth Defense and Municipal Court.
The Hamilton County Public Defender Office will consider the application of law students who have completed their first year. Applications are being accepted until February 23, 2024. Please email your resume and cover letter to:
