The Municipal Division provides representation to indigent adults, facing possible incarceration, who are charged with misdemeanor violations of the Ohio Revised Code and the Cincinnati Municipal Code, including certain traffic charges.
Indigency is determined based on certain Federal Poverty Guidelines.
First degree misdemeanor offenses are the most serious in Ohio. They carry a maximum possible sentence of 180 days in a local jail facility.
Examples of first degree misdemeanors frequently handled by our attorneys:
Operating a motor vehicle while under the influence (‘OVI’ for short, formerly referred to as ‘DUI’)

The Municipal Division employs 32 attorneys, including 5 supervisors and a director with an average of ten years legal experience each. In a typical year, this Division will handle over 30, 000 cases.
