ACT NOW!
REINSTATEMENT FEE AMNESTY INITIATIVE
OHIO HAS PASSED SENATE BILL 336

THIS MEANS FOR YOU:

The “Reinstatement Fee Amnesty Initiative” would establish a temporary six-month debt reduction and waiver program for individuals who have had their Ohio license suspended for a variety of reasons, with the exception of offenses involving alcohol, drugs, or a deadly weapon.

The program would set up certain eligibility requirements for a fee reduction, including the following:  18 months have expired since the end of the individual’s period of suspension; and the individual has completed all court-ordered sanctions other than paying the reinstatement fee(s).

The program would set up certain eligibility requirements for a complete waiver of all reinstatement fees, including the following:  the person is indigent and can demonstrate proof of indigence; and the individual has completed all court-ordered sanctions other than paying the reinstatement fee(s).  There does not appear to be the 18-month waiting period if the person is determined to be indigent.

WHAT YOU SHOULD DO:

If you owe reinstatement fees to the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles: Go to your local BMV or contact the Ohio Bureau of Motor

Vehicles/Reinstatement Office at (614) 752-7500, Mon-Fri; 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. or Sat, 8:00 a.m. to 1:45 p.m.; or visit their website at Link

TERM OF INITIATIVE:

This initiative is set to begin no later than November 2, 2018.

Please visit a BMV office or website to determine the actual start and end date of the initiative.
