"Appellate Decisions" is a weekly e-mail sent out by the Law Office of the Hamilton County Public Defender's Appellate Division to its staff and panel attorneys. Every e-mail covers that week's decisions from appellate courts throughout Ohio, including all criminal decisions from the First District Court of Appeals, the Supreme Court of Ohio and the Supreme Court of the United States, that cover important changes in the law.
Importantly, only decisions from the First District Court of Appeals, the Supreme Court of Ohio, the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals (Federal Constitutional Issues), and the Supreme Court of the United States (Federal Constitutional Issues) must be followed by Hamilton County courts. All other decisions are merely persuasive in nature. "Appellate Decisions" is a compilation of those decisions. All writing in quotes is the work of the relevant court. None of this writing should be considered to be legal advice.
These signs are posted in our various lobbies and remind our attorneys and staff and assure our clients that we will treat each of them with DIGNITY, fight for JUSTICE and give them HOPE every day.
Congratulations to the entire Juvenile Division for their commitment to fearlessly advocating for and protecting the rights of system-involved children in Hamilton County.
Congratulations to Julie Nessler for getting The Noel E. Kaech Award in recognition for her impact and contributions to Hamilton County.
Here's a picture of Cheryl Horne, Ann Ohmer, Mike Hand and Stephanie Singler staffing our booth June 10th at the Hamilton County Municipal Court's Stand Down Program in Washington Park. Judge Melissa Powers organized the program to help veterans and homeless people clear up minor cases and to have outstanding warrants recalled.
